A few years back, I was just your average overweight nerd. The fat and nerdy part I could deal with, but what I couldn't handle was being ignored by women. Though I'd been trying to find a girlfriend, I'd been going about it all wrong. I was doing what a lot of desperate guys do – trying (and failing) to make a connection with every woman. We went out together one night and I set him loose to talk to women. As he followed my easy, step-by-step instructions on what to say and do when approaching women, it was like a switch was flipped. All of a sudden, he was getting interest from women – and I could see the change it made in him right away. He couldn't believe he was doing it, and I knew I had to teach others my techniques.

I got involved in the “pickup artist” (or PUA) community about 5 years ago, and eventually teamed up with some friends to create a dating workshop for men. You know how these go: spend a weekend learning techniques and hearing stories about the teacher's successes. I created some workshops (right down to the PowerPoint presentations), and put on quite a few.

That's when I realized something important: 2 days just isn't enough. You can't go from zero to hero with women in a matter of 48 hours, it's just too much of a shift for your brain to process at once. I was able to train my colleague pretty quickly, but that was through one-on-one interaction with someone I already knew. There just aren't enough hours in the day to give that kind of personal attention to every guy who needs it. I didn't want to spend my weekends putting on workshops just for the guys to go home and still be clueless.

Remember when I said I was a nerd? I've worked as a software engineer for more than a decade. When I realized that workshops couldn't produce the same results as I saw with my colleague, I rolled up my sleeves to create the Instant Street Dating software program.
